Win8 Server Beta Hyper-V in VM crashes

I'm trying to run Win8 Server Hyper-V nested in a VM. In Developer Preview it works fine. With the new beta it crashes at boot after Hyper-V is installed.

Please fix?

Best regards

Henrik

Try adding this option to your VM configuration file:

mce.enable = TRUE

can you run nested VMs in 2008 R2 HyperV ?
are you sure your config is ok ?

it will help if you attach the vmware.log

Yes, no problem running a nested Hyper-V with Win2008, 2008R2 or Win8 Srv Developer Preview. With the new Beta that just came, I get a HAL error and a blue "sad smiley" at bootup after the second reboot when I have installed Hyper-V.

I have of course added the needed info in the vmx-file.

I attach the logfile, at the end there should be two crashed boots recorded.

I really need to get nested Hyper-V running in the Win8 Beta.

Best regards

Just to make sure I am clear, it is the Win8 Server Beta VM in Workstation that crashes. I never got as far as to try to run a nested VM on top of Hyper-V in turn as it does not boot.. Smiley Wink

This is the Windows 8 Consumer Preview installed over Windows 7 64-bit?
