Will we see Desktop Integration anytime soon? (ala Parallels and VirtualBox)

Greetings,

I love VMWare and program and test software all day using VMs. I was wondering if desktop integration is on the horizon in the VMWare Desktop product line (either Workstation or Player)?

To clarify, I am referring to the feature in Parallels and in Sun Virtual Box where the desktop of the Virtual Machine is overlayed on the desktop of the Host OS so that open applications appear almost native to the host OS. I tried it in Virtual Box, and it looked really cool, until the guest OS froze up three times (Sun has a ways to go!)

Thanks,

Scott

Hi,

Welcome to the VMware community forums.

That's called Unity and has been in VMware workstation since version 6.5

It's there for at least a year or so.

In order to use it, select the "Unity" option instead of full screen or windowed mode.

Hope this helps,

That's fantastic, can't wait to try it.

I tried keyword searching the forums and google before posting and didn't find this under "integration", never heard of unity till now.

Thanks,

Scott
