Will upgrading from Player 6 to Workstation 10 see my USB 3 HDD?

Running Player 5 on my laptop with a Windows 8 VM the LaCie Minimus USB 3 HDD could not be seen on the USB 3 port, but only the USB 2 port.  I was hoping that Player 6 would solve this, but same problem.

Is there any reason upgrading to Workstation 10 would or would not solve my USB 3 problem?

It will work (or not) the same - Player 6 and Workstation 10 use the same underlying virtual machine monitor, system services, and device drivers.
