Why won't NIS (ypbind) work in a Linux guest on a Windows host using wifi?

I have a Windows 7 laptop, with VMware Workstation 10.  The virtual machine is using NAT for the RHEL 6 guest OS.  While plugged into a wired network, ypbind works fine. Users can log in and work.  If the laptop is using the wifi network, ypbind doesn't work.  Since VMware is using NAT, we believe the guest shouldn't see a difference when the host switches between wired and wireless networks, and for everthing else, this is true.  The Internet, and license servers are all reached without an issue, but NIS(ypbind) won't talk to the server at all when the host is using wireless.  Has anyone had the same experience?
