Title says it all... I've entered chat sessions with VMWare staff, I've searched the web, I'm already running it on Win10 upgraded... Is there anything at all that should make me want to make this move in either a licensed home lab environment or a work environment?
Thanks in advance, any answers will be better than I can get from VMWare (which is odd to me.)

I'm wondering the exact same thing for almost the same situation (development lab environment).
I saw your question a few weeks ago, yet still haven't seen any responses.
Personally, I'm using VMware because it's faster than VirtualBox and it provides the "Virtualize Intel VT-x/EPT or AMD-V/RVI" extensions, which are critical for some of the testing I do.
Unfortunately, I like use use `vagrant` for to bring up machines, but in spite of purchasing the VMware vagrant plugin, it still doesn't work right on WSL (after 2 years of prodding).
I did some testing of VMware Pro 14 (last few days of my trial) with a Windows 10 Fall Creators Update Guest inside a Windows 10 Fall Creators Update host, and the display settings are still not working properly. Personally, I was unable to identify any differences between VMware Workstation Pro 12.5 and 14.0.
In regards to the display settings do you mean fullscreen and toggling 2 monitors? As I've just posted a thread about this as I thought it was down to my Linux host causing issues.
I am also on Fall Creators update
