Why is my Kali Linux VMware taking so much storage?!

I got like 120GB with 200GB maximum size Kali Linux 6.30 in VMware® Workstation 17 Pro but it's taking 351 GB originally now it's 282 GB still huge, I defragmented and compacted its storage that's why the reduced size but it's a problem I need help since I only have now like 64 GB free out of my 1 TB SSD! 3 screenshots provided below! ss  ssScreenshot 2023-08-19 150618.png

Do you have any snapshots on the VM?

This are my current snapshot only one, I deleted the old snapshot which sucks because I cannot go back to old working Kali Linux 6.30, I'm currently using 5.11. Also, the old screenshot I provided is that a good setting? or would it take back all my storage again? also using the VMware keeps the storage growing while I use it even, I'm not downloading anything.

Most old timers around here recommend keeping Autoprotect turned off. It is my opinion that snapshots should be a temporary test vehicle and should not be considered backups. I remove them after testing.

Perhaps post a listing of the VM folder showing file names and sizes.

Here are the screenshots never thought it contains so many files! Its feels like it can go forever if you look at the scrollbar too! I need this Kali Linux since it has the needed modules and software's I need for penetration-testing and work. But I currently only using 120 GB with maximum of 200 GB as you can see in the old screenshots.
