Why is VM Tools Important on Windows Guests

Hi All, Please excuse the very basic question, I am trying to put together a list of important uses for VM Tools on Windows guests hosted on an ESX infrastructure. I am hoping there is some documentation on what VM tools is & does...Or some kind person to supply a list of reasons for having this deployed

Any guidance would be appreciated.

The VMware Tols are important and recommended independent of the VMware virtualization product you use because:

1. Appropriate optimized drivers (network, disk, video, mouse, memory)

2. Idle time detection

3. Memory management

4. Scripting interface into the guest

5. Time synchronization

6. Quiescing mechanism (for Snapshots and VCB backups)

7. ...?

well your vm will not function properly without vm toosl installed as vm tools contains the appropriate drivers , network, disk, video, mouse, memory

vmware-tools are not required for the VM to work - they just make working with it more convenient.
