Why VMware Workstation tells me the partition tables is not correct?

I have a 4T physical disk and I plan to attached it (the whole disk, not a partition) to a RHEL 8 guest VM. But whenever I try it, I got this error:

But the disk works well in my Windows host system. It's using MBR, so it has been automatically splitted into two partitions.

If I make it online and format them, I can copy files to them without any issues. Why VMware Workstation tells me the partition tables is not correct? Thanks.

A 4 TB disk that is not using GPT instead of MBR would be regarded as invalid by any tool.
The fact that Windows allows to use the first 2 TB does not change this at all.
More important: it makes zero sense to insist on using MBR for such a disk.
Rebuild the partitiontable to GPT and forget about it.

Try running VMWare Workstation as Administrator, it appears that the VMWare UI process is trying to read the raw disk, which fails when not running elevated.
