Why E5 2682v4 CPU can't run Windows 7 virtual machine system smoothly?

Hi,

Here is my hardware:

CPU:E5 2682v4 (without intergrated graphic)
Memory:64GB ECC REG
Graphic card:1060TI 6GB
Drive:M2 NVME 1GB

Here is my software:

Windows 10 LTSC 21H2
Vmware 16.2(checked the accelerate 3D graphic opition in guset os setup interface)
Windows 7 Enterprise(guest OS)

problem:

When I run Win7 guest os in Vmware, the Win7 interface or explorer has lag and not smooth.

  1. Is it caused by the E5 2682v4 CPU? because it doesn't has intergrated graphic core?
  2. If Geforce 1060TI 6GB has no effort to Vmware and virtual machine system, I change a new CPU with intergrated graphic, will it better?
  3. Or is it because the low frequency of E5 2682v4 CPU(2.5GB)?

Vmware, best for all.

The CPU model and GPU models that you indicate does not exist. There is no E5-2682v4 and there is no GTX1060Ti.

Either you made a typo on both the CPU and GPU models; or you are using an Intel ES/QS CPU and some Frankenstein GPU from sellers from China.

Generally it is not advisable to use Intel ES/QS CPUs, apart from it being illegal to be bought/sold, stability would be an issue as it was never meant for production. As for Frankenstein GPUs, it usually uses an older GPU architecture with a BIOS from a different architecture.

I don't think CPU clock speed is an issue. As the CPU does not have integrated GPU, Workstation 16.x will use the discrete GPU. But the discrete GPU needs to be support DX11.1 or newer. You need to check the mksSandbox.log and see if there were problems with the 3D accelerated graphics during VM powerup; or look at the messages on the lower right corner and see if 3D accelerated graphics was disabled.

E5 2682v4 CPU:It's a custom model, so not list on Intel website, but we can see it here https://www.etb-tech.com/intel-xeon-e5-2682-v4-2-50ghz-16-core-cpu-sr2k4.html .

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6 GB: I make a typo, it is  1060 6 GB https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/geforce-gtx-1060-6-gb.c2862  .

I sold my CPU and replace it to Intel i7 12700k, Win7 virtual machine running speed is fast enough for me, and have no lag when drag the explorer window.

Vmware, best for all.
