While windows update my VM Machines started showing errors

Hello,

I am a VWWare Workstation pro user, here is the specs of my VMWare product.

I am seeing my VMWare based Windows 32bit machines started giving error when they try to update using Windows Update feature.

These machines were perfectly working fine, but from around past 1 month or so I have started facing this issue. Initially I thought may be my machine got damage but now I have noticed that non of my Win 32 bit machines are getting updated properly.

No change is done in my Host machine hardware level. Its my home PC. 

My virtual machine shows these below screenshots in the same order as shown here when it goes for restart after installing updates using Windows Update feature.

Please advise.

It's not clear as to why you might consider it to be VMware Workstation related . . . but, I'm sure that this can be ascertained.  So, some questions:

- What specific Win 32 bit VMs are affected, are they the same OS type/level ?

- the patches that are being applied, are they consistent across the VMs OS's ?

- Is it a particular patch or groups of patches that are causing this issue ?

- Were any software changes made to either the Host OS or VMware Workstation ?

- Would suggest reviewing your VMware Workstation log to see if it's picked up anything

- for consistency, what is the type and interface of drive being used for the assigned partition given the 'D:' designator ?

I assume that before you applied the patches you took a backup.

@CarltonR Appreciate your response let me try to respond your questions to help me out further.

- What specific Win 32 bit VMs are affected, are they the same OS type/level ? Yes they are same OS type/level Windows 10 only.

- the patches that are being applied, are they consistent across the VMs OS's ? I really cannot answer properly, however I assume that since these patches are being deployed automatically through Windows Update feature they are consistent and belongs to only Windows 10 Pro 32 bit.

- Is it a particular patch or groups of patches that are causing this issue ? I don't know if you kindly guide me how can I find out this information,  I will try to dig more information for you. After seeing this error and as instructed by Microsoft I visited this URL microsof.com/stopcode but it didn't help because as per Microsoft instructions I tried to start the OS using Safe Mode with Networking but even then in the safe mode it is showing the same error message. Looks like infinity loop.

No, actually host system is Windows 10 Pro also, so it is also getting the patches using Windows Update feature and that's it. No hardware changes are made. Its my home PC. So far my Windows 10 Pro 64 bit machines are working fine as of writing this email, but I am really worried if they will start facing this problem?

- Would suggest reviewing your VMware Workstation log to see if it's picked up anything. I have attached the log files, if you can kindly look at it and share your thoughts. Please  in the vmware-0.log file search this line DiskLib_GetStorageBlockSizes: Failed to get storage block sizes, The virtual disk requires a feature not supported by this program. This may ring any bell for you.

- for consistency, what is the type and interface of drive being used for the assigned partition given the 'D:' designator ? My host machine is using NVME drive where this VMWare based Win32 bit Machines is installed on D drive.
