Hi there,
I have windows 10 host with 3840x260 resolution scaled to 250%
I am running VM Workstation 10, guest OS Windows Server 2012 R2.
What display settings should I be using?
Window is either too small, or too big, mouse click clicks elsewhere in the window, mouse icon is TINY! etc. etc. I just can't get the display right.
I did have it working but had to reinstall windows and VM workstation and forgot to take note of all the settings ![]()
If I have
most things display at a reasonable size, but mouse icon is tiny and sometimes it is clicking on somewhere else on the screen than where I am actually clicking
If I have
the guest screen is just black with tiny mouse icon
Any help would be very gratefully accepted.
Workstation 10 is quite old, it cannot support newest Windows release versions, suggest you to upgrade to latest version Workstation 14. Please let us know if you still hit the same issue after upgrading. Thanks!
HI Tracy,
Thanks for your reply! Can you guarantee that it will work as expected with workstation 14? If so I'd be glad to upgrade, but don't want to spend the money to have the issue persist
Hi,
I would recommend you to use the trial version: Download VMware Workstation Pro | Free Virtual Machine | VMware And we will provide fully support as we can, thanks!
HI Tracy,
I have tried v14, and have found that the only way that I could get it to work was to have the same resolution (1920x1080) and same scaling (100%) on both the host (dell xps15 which supports up to 3840x2160) and VM.
Not ideal at all as icons and text on the host are very small, and any changes to the scaling on the host result in the mouse click in the VM being in a different location to where the click is done.
So I then reinstalled v10, and with the same result. So sticking with v10
