What free antivirus/firewall do you recommend for Windows-based VMs?

I'd like to use a freeware antivirus/firewall for my Windows-based (Vista, XP and beta Windows 7) virtual machines. I currently loaded Avira, but it's flagging some VMware files as being infected with a virus (which I don't think is true). What do you use for a freeware antivirus/firewall solution? I don't need extras like identity protection, pop-up blocker and the like -- just the antivirus and firewall is all.

Thoughts?

I agree with Troy if you are going to use a host based firewall (I am not a fan of them myself) then use the built-in OS firewall.

for AV you may also want to look at http://www.clamwin.com/

I use either Avast! free edition, or Comodo Internet Security (you can choose to install just the AV, just the Firewall, or both).
