Greetings. I'm not the most savvy VM user. I have Workstation 8. I made a Win 7 base install VM that I used to create several linked clones off of. I've been doing so many things with the VMs that I've lost track of what files are what.
The base install VM has a 25 GB preallocated hard drive, plus one snapshot of which the clones are linked to.
I directory listing is attached.
I'm trying to save some space on the hard drive...there are two likely candidates for deletion (the two biggest files).
Are either deletable?
Matt
Can you please post a screen shot of the Snapshot manager window and attach the VM's .vmsd file to your next post.
André
which vmdks do these VMs use ?
"D:\VMs\Win7 x64 SP1 -- Training\Win7 x64 SP1 -- Training.vmx"
"D:\VMs\Win7 x64 SP1 -- Quarantine\Win7 x64 SP1 -- Quarantine.vmx"
"D:\VMs\Win7 x64 SP1 -- Sensitive Use\Win7 x64 SP1 -- Sensitive Use.vmx"
Hi. I'm not exactly sure how to determine that.
As an example, below is the .vmsd file for "D:\VMs\Win7 x64 SP1 -- Quarantine\Win7 x64 SP1 -- Quarantine.vmx."
.encoding = "windows-1252"
snapshot.lastUID = "2"
snapshot.current = "2"
snapshot.mru0.uid = "2"
snapshot.mru1.uid = "1"
snapshot0.uid = "2"
snapshot0.filename = "Win7 x64 SP1 -- Quarantine-Snapshot2.vmsn"
snapshot0.displayName = "Ready to Go"
snapshot0.type = "1"
snapshot0.createTimeHigh = "310054"
snapshot0.createTimeLow = "-1206579280"
snapshot0.numDisks = "1"
snapshot0.disk0.fileName = "Win7 x64 SP1 -- Base Install-cl1.vmdk"
snapshot0.disk0.node = "scsi0:0"
snapshot.numSnapshots = "1"
cloneOf0 = "D:\VMs\Win7 x64 SP1 -- Base Install\Win7 x64 SP1 -- Base Install.vmx"
numCloneOf = "1"
sentinel0 = "Win7 x64 SP1 -- Base Install-cl1.vmdk"
numSentinels = "1"
Did my last post not answer your question? Please help me!
without knowing which vmdks the 3 clones use you can not delete anything from that folder.
Post vmware.logs from the 3 listed VMs - then we can find out if there are files that can be deleted
