WS 8 installed on Ubuntu 11.10 beta Host with kernel 3.0.0-11-generic and Windows 8 Guest without any problem at all. Installing VMware Tools was successfull but the OS would not login and will have to rfeinstalled without Tools. Since most programs are incompatible with Windows 8 Preview this is not much of an problem for me. The that WS 8 installed on a 3.0 kernel was excellent indeed. Don't know why VMware hasn't said so.
