WS 6.5.3 won't install on Xandros 4.2 kernel 2.6.18-dcc-smp host

WS 6.5.3 won't install on Xandros 4.2 kernel 2.6.18-dcc-smp host.

Both GUI installer and command line "--console" option will delete the existing installation, 6.5.2.

Followed by "Extracting VMware Installer ... done."

Nothing is extracted and no messages are displayed anywhere.

When I reinstall 6.5.2, the GUI installer runs flawlessly.

My guests are Win 98SE, Win XP sp2, and Ubuntu 9.04.

Does anyone have a clue? Thanks in advance.

Did you have run this installer using a console and did you install it using a sudo command?

It's important that you have installed the following packages:

kernel-sources,

kernel-headers,

make,

gcc

The names of these required packages might differ by distribution.

Yes, I was signed on as Administrator/Super User when I ran the shell command "sh".

On your list, the only thing I was missing was the "kernel-sources". In Xandros 4.2, the package name is

"dcc-kernel-source-2.6.18". I installed and configured it.

I tried to re-install WS 6.5.3. The result is the same. Removes WS 6.5.2, says it is "Extracting the VMware Installer...done."

And, nothing happens, except the console returns to the command line prompt.

WS 6.5.2 re-installs without a problem.

Any other suggestions?

Still waiting for an answer.

Why does WS 6.5.2 install without any problem, when WS 6.5.3 will not.

Nothing changes except VMware's download file!!!

THIS IS RIDICULOUS.
