Vmware very slow

Hi,

i have two windows server 2008 r2 x64bit Enterprise edition each Os have 1.5GB of ram allocated one server act as domain controller another one is Forefront TMG,when i start the server it take 20mins to boot after boot i cant work smoothly start menu and mmc console are damn slow.i reinstall Vmware with vmtools nothing happen as same result. Any suggestion would be great appreciate.

Hi,

Could you provide us with more information about the host that is hosting your W2k8 R2 servers? This sounds like a memory issue, how much RAM do you have in the host?

sorry i forget that's  main piont to notice.

Here is my configuration:

Physical machine:

OS:- Windows Xp

Processor :-Core 2 Duo @2.93Ghz (E7500)

Ram:-4GB DDR3

Hard drive :- 500GB

1.Virtual Machine:-

OS:- Windows server r2 x64 (Domain controller)

Processor :-Core 2 Duo @2.93Ghz (E7500)

RAM:- 1.5GB

Hard Drive :-20GB

2.Virtual Machine:-

OS:- Windows server r2 x64 (Member of DC) Forefront TMG

Processor :-Core 2 Duo @2.93Ghz (E7500)

Ram:-1.5GB

Hard Drive :-20GB

OK, thanks for posting.

I suggest you try the following to improve the speed of your VMs:

  1. Add more RAM to your physical machine
  2. Configure the W2k8 servers with 1024 MB and one virtual CPU
  3. Move one VM to a different physical disk

From my experience, adding more RAM solves this issue in most cases.

i hope this would be slove and i have only two RAM slots in physical machinei can't add more. so im going to try third option.
