Well, you would need to create a Virtual Machine, whether it be Linux/Windows. Then you need to install WS on the guest OS, I believe it will know that it's trying to be installed in a virtual machine and error out. I've not tried this before, but it's a very simple test to see. You can also go the route of installing VMware Server which is free either on a Windows/Linux guest OS, but it may error out if it think it's in a virtual environment. Usually you'll install WS on a laptop or your personal workstation which is a physical server and run virtual machines within that. Is there a specific reason you want to install WS within a VM, performance may not be that great either if it actually works

Installing WS as a VM in ESX doesn't work.

A general rule: running a virtualization product inside another virtualization product doesn't work.

An exception is installing ESX 3.0.x inside WS 6.

In fact my problem is :

I have some Workstation machines and I migrate them on ESX

One linux machine can only use IDE disk and ESX only permit SCSI

I look for a solution

Linux machine can't be modified for SCSI.

Andre, the linux host CAN'T be modified for SCSI or you've been unable to modify it?
