Vmware WS 6.0, VM 100% in Exclusive Mode.

Hello guys,

Anybody know how to make the full screen mode (or exclusive mode) work all the time for VMware WS6 having Red Hat 4.0 as Host and XP Pro as Guest. Basically I need that the user doesn't even know that XP is running as a VM but it is a regular Windows BOX.

In Vmware server I can make the Vm go directly to Full Screen going to the Settings of the VM. In VM WS6.0 I did the same but now I found that bar in the top that is going to be too much temptation for the user and I am going to be receiving calls every two minutes. I can manually change it to Exclusive mode but after I change the mode (presing Ctrl-Alt or booting the server) I doesn't goes back to Exclusive mode.

Thanks for some or all the help

Raul

You can close Workstation, edit ~/.vmware/preferences.ini, and add the line:

pref.fullScreen.v5 = "TRUE"[/code]

and this will make fullscreen behave like Workstation 5/VMware Server 1.0.

Note that if the user presses Ctrl+Alt, they'll exit fullscreen mode (and this was true in Workstation 5 and in VMware Server 1.0 too).

Thanks James,

I never could find the "preferences. ini ", but I found just "preferences". Do you think that might be because I had VMware server previously there?

Anyway, your idea worked.

Thanks

Argh, yes, I meant "preferences". It's named preferences.ini on Windows hosts.
