I'm a .Net software developer and I have used VM Workstation successfully for some time now. I'm doing some WPF development now that brings up some Vista issues and questions...
Although my laptop will get a Vista Base Score of about 4 (I'm pretty sure) it gets only 1.0 when I run a Vista Image. Is this a limitation of VMWARE? Obviously this keeps me from testing Aero features.
Vista utilizes hardware to do 3D anti-aliasing and hardware accelleration on translucent and non-rectangular windows. Will it do the same in a VMWARE image?
I'm hoping that I can go a while without having to buy another computer for my WPF development.
Thanks,
Gary
The current generation of virtual hardware does NOT support all the features which Vista wants for its eye candy. The development group claims that they're working on a newer virtual video adapter, but it will not be released until after the Workstation 6.0 release (IOW, not in the initial release of 6.0).
This is probably the reason my base score on my Vista VM is 1.0?
Gary
