Virtual machines not working after putted to background

I am currently using VMware workstation 17.(on Windows 10, works fine just before today)

Then i run into the following problem:

Whenever i close a tab of my virtual machine and make it work in background, the icon on the left shows it's not working anymore. But when i click it, it would work normally again.

BUT when i put my workstation to the tray... It SHOWS there is still a machine working, but when i open workstation again, I could not even open the tab for this machine. It's neither closed or hanged up, it's woking, but can't be used.

The only thing i could do was to terminate certain process named"VMWare Workstation VMX"  to close the machine then to open it again.

See what I've done in the pic.

Have anyone run into the same problem before? How should I solve it?

Much thx.123.png

You will not like this :slightly_smiling_face: you need to uninstall VMware Workstation, and then remove ALL references to it from the registry with REGEDIT. Re-install and it should behave as expected again. Hope this helps :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi,

You can access that VM via the task panel icon.

Left click on the icon and it will show your VM's running in the background.

Click on the VM you want to open again in the foreground and it will open VMware Workstation with the VM running in the foreground.

You can also right click on it and you have a whole bunch of options.

If the VM didn't come back up in the foreground again, then at least you have an option this way to shut it down (or suspend it)

Hope this helps,
