These problems should not happen.
I would suggest uninstalling and reinstalling VMware, turning off UAC for the duration of the installation.
I am running Windows 7 64-bit. When I try to edit virtual machine settings the program locks up and shuts down. Does anyone else have this problem? And if so does anyone have a fix for this issue? Thanks in advance.
I running two Windows 7 vms on a Windows 7 host with no issues.
You can try to check the services and restart if necessary or you can reboot your host
What VMware product are you using? What is your host OS? Was the vm working before?

Tried the services already everything was running fine. I am running VMWare 7.0 the virtual machine is XP Pro and the host machine is Windows 7.0 64-bit. No, the edit setting has not worked yet. Thanks
Maybe this thread will be helpfull, please take a look:

I would second that suggestion.
Re-install and see if you get the same issues.
