Verrrry slow shared folders

Hi,

I experience extremely slow response in my clients (Win XP, Win 7) when browsing shared folders, the host os is XP.

I remember with previous Workstation versions this was much faster, but now it is nearly impossible to do anything in the shared folders, it takes nearly half a minute for the subfolders to appear when I click a shared folder in my guest explorer.

Please what could I have done wrong ? Where do I have to look first ?

thanks.

Try (temporarily) disabling any "task offload" or other "offload" settings for the NIC adapter installed in your Host.

What AntiVirus do you have installed on your Host?

Double check your DNS and network settings on the host and the guest/

@Scissor,

disabling the option had no effect, Antivirus is Avira Antivir on both host (XP) and guest (XP and Win7).

@JoeLyons,

DNS settings on the host are correct, I have no idea what to enter (and where) in the guest (XP)

If I do "ipconfig /all" in the gues, I get this :

Actually I came to find out that it could very well be not VMware's fault for this slow browsing.

I use some explorer replacement for years called Direcctory Opus,

after all those months of struggling with slow shared folders in VM's, and got the bright

idea for actually trying to browser the shared folders with windows explorer itself,

and with windows explorer, the response is drastically faster.
