VT-x/EPT isn't awailable. Why?

Hello!

I have Gigabyte EP45-UD3R rev 1.1 with Intel Q9650, in BIOS virtualization is enabled.

Windows 2008 Server R2 Standard SP1. VMware Workstation 8.0.1 build-528992

Settings for VM in Virtualization engine:

Preffered mode: Authomatic

checked "Virtualize Intel VT-x/EPT or AMD-V/RVI"

When I power VM in VMware,  I'm getting error "Virtualize Intel VT-x/EPT requires platform support for". Why?

Thanks for any help.

Welcome to the Community,

please attach the vmware.log file - which can be found in the VM's folder - to your next post.

The Q9650 doesn't support EPT.  EPT is required for virtualized VT-x/EPT.

O, thanks. Really,  I find EPT is available only Nehalem, not Core2Duo.

EPT is available on most Nehalem, Westmere, and Sandy Bridge processors.
