VMworkstation 8 - CD-Rom Insufficient Permission

I am tryting to create a new VM to try to install Windows 8 and when I try to boot from the host's CD-ROM I get CD-ROM Insufficient Permission to Access Drive.

To test, I went to an existing WinXP VM and tried to connect the CD-ROM from the host and get the same message.

Host is Windows 7 64 Ultimate.

Please point me in the right direction to get the CD-ROM usable.

Try running VMware as an admininstrator (if Workstation is installed in Windows) or as su (if WS installed ini Linux).
