VMware workstation installation error

I am getting the below error while installing ubuntu 12.04 ISO file

VMware Workstation unrecoverable error: (mks)

A log file is available in "C:\kishore\vmware\vmware.log".  A core file is available in "C:\Users\kolli\AppData\Roaming\VMware\vmware-vmx-5656.dmp".  Please request support and include the contents of the log file and core file.

To collect files to submit to VMware support, run "vm-support.vbs".

We will respond on the basis of your support entitlement.

Even though there was experimental support for Ubuntu Linux 7.04 as a guest operating system nonetheless Ubuntu Linux 6.10 was the latest version officially supported in VMware Workstation 6.0.0.  So I'd expect trying to install Ubuntu Linux 12.04 in such an old version of Workstation to be problematic at best.
