VMware workstation install problem - again :(

Seems to me that guys at VMware just cannot get the Linux installation program correct. Again I run into problem that all component except Workstation part are installed correctly and then... ROLLBACK ... I'm really getting ...sed with this. Modules compile correctly, other components are installed correctly but for some reason the install program does not like my environment and does rollback.

I have tried the normal VMWARE_SKIP_MODULES=true, VMWARE_USE_SHIPPED_GTK=force and all other tricks available at forums etc. but no success. Those environment variables have no effect whatsoever and I've tried with and without exports, even as system wide variables.

So, how do I disable the ***king rollback? And sorry about the language but this time I've had enough. It has been same fight with all versions since 6.x. Why there is "--ignore-errors" parameter if the install program does not respect it.

....

And while I was writing this message I found the problem. This time empty directory /opt/eclipse/plugins/com.vmware.bfg_1.0.0 existed and that caused installation of VMware-Workstation 7.1.0 to fail. I should have know.... it was so obvious. Hopefully someone else finds this information useful and you really should do something with the installation program. Either to make it more informative or really respect the -I option.

This was all information in the installer log about the problem:

[2010-05-29 23:02:13,888] destination /opt/eclipse/plugins/com.vmware.bfg_1.0.0 already exists, overwriting.
[2010-05-29 23:02:13,889] [http://vmware-workstation 7.1.0|http://vmware-workstation 7.1.0] Installation failed, rolling back installation.

Removing the directory and restarting installation using the *.bundle file solved the problem.
