Just updated to 8 (Ubuntu Linux host, 10.10 kernel 3.04 64 bit). It works.
Previously when entering unity, the WS window would maximize. Now it keeps it's former size and location. A small touch, but nice.
Another observation: I use a dual monitor setup, and unity windows on the 2nd monitor get nudged below the lower boundary of the main panel (compiz/emerald windows manager). An easy work around is to RMB click on the menu and click the "Show hide buttons" checkbox. Now unity windows stay at that top of the monitor.
