I'm running VMware workstation 6.5.1 on XP. My host machine has seemed to be running kinda warm, so I've been watching the system resources and VMware is always using 680,000K.... Is there a way to throttle this back? I don't do any heavy lifting with this VM.. it's just for basic stuff (internet, some random file access)
Please advise!
Other settings of interest:
Memory on host - 2GB, memory on VM- 576MB
HDD on host 160GB, HDD on VM - 8GB
Sounds about right. RAM for guest = 576 MB, video RAM = varies between 4 and 128, depending on your settings, additional overhead for guest = 50 or so MB.
So I'm gathering from your reply that the answer is 'no, there is no way to throttle that back'?
Sure, if you don't need much resources for that guest, set the RAM down to a more manageable level, like 128 MB. And make sure to disable the Accelerated 3D graphics, so you aren't using as much RAM for the virtual video card.
k... thanks!
