VMware kernel modules

I am trying to re-install VMware on Ubuntu but I get this error message;

neil@ubuntu:~$ cd /home/neil/vmware-distrib

neil@ubuntu:~/vmware-distrib$ sudo ./vmware-install.pl

The following VMware kernel modules have been found on your system that were

not installed by the VMware Installer. Please remove them then run this

installer again.

vmblock

vmnet

vmmon

Execution aborted.

How do I remove these modules?

perhaps you can/should use the ubuntu package manager to uninstall the prior vmware player/server/workstation?

you can try vmware-uninstall?

you can try finding your running kernel version (uname -r) and with root priviledges go find /lib/modules/$kernel/misc/ to remove them?
