Unfortunately I have no explanation and no solution. However, I experience the very same problem. Over the last few days I experienced crashes of VMware workstation Pro 12 (12.5.0 build-4352439) several times. And after the crash even the screen display of the host system is scrambled, but today I was at least lucky to be able to make a screenshot of the error message (attached). (The collected support data have a size of over 10 MB, so I'm not going to attach them here.)
I hope this problem will be fixed with the next update of the product.
BTW, I find it very annoying that there is no official way to inform VMware about crashes in their product, unless you have a support contract (which is too expensive for me as a private customer). However, shouldn't they be interested in getting bug reports?
