VMware Workstation unrecoverable error (vmui) NOT_IMPLEMENTED

Hi there

Please could someone help me. I have been receiving this error (see below) all day.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

VMware Workstation unrecoverable error: (vmui)

NOT_IMPLEMENTED

d:/build/ob/bora-1410761/bora/lib/disklib/sparsechecked.c:1634

A log file is available in "C:\Users\dan-smith\AppData\Local\Temp\vmware-daniel.alvares\vmware-ui-2996.log".

You can request support.

To collect data to submit to VMware support, choose "Collect Support Data" from the

Help menu.

You can also run the "vm-support" script in the Workstation folder directly.

We will respond on the basis of your support entitlement.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It has always worked fine.

I switched off my PC on Friday and when I switched it on this morning, i could not turn on my VM

What I've tried:

  • Disabling Symantec endpoint protection
  • Powering on VM whilst in Windows Safe Mode
  • Moved all other files in folder into "temp" folder (so it was only the .vmx & .vmdk files)
  • Removed all files (preferences & inventory) from "C:\Users\Dani.Smith\AppData\Roaming\VMware\" folder
  • Check the VM folder wasn't somehow read-only

But nothing has worked

Please can help me with this matter

Any input is appreciated

Many Thanks

Dan

Please append the log from "C:\Users\dan-smith\AppData\Local\Temp\vmware-daniel.alvares\vmware-ui-2996.log"

What is your local drive K? NAS or external USB drive?

According to this snippet, "The virtual machine appears to be in use". If you are sure that she is not, then delete all LCK-files and -folders and try to restart the VM.
