VMware Workstation crashes when creating a network error R6025

I have an existing vm environment that it was decided should be a networked vm. When I attempt to change the configuration the Workstation crashes. 8.0.3 build-703057, Memory 15952 MB, OS Windows 7 Professional 64 bit, 6.1.7601 SP1.

Steps taken:

  • Edit
  • Virtual Network Editor
  • NAT shared host's IP address with VMs.
  • Use local DHCP service to distribute IP address to VMs

Crashes with

A colleague identified that I did not have the vmnet1 and vmnet8 configurations on my host. Running the vmware workstation installer allowed me to recreate the vmnet configurations. Then I had to use the reset defaults in the environment because we had attempted to use Bridge when NAT wasn't working and when I had recovered the environment still had the Bridge configuration and wouldn't let me reset to NAT which was already in use.
