I have an annoying issue with VMware Workstation Pro 12.5.0 installed on Linux Mint 18 with Cinnamon 3.0.7. After starting up any VMware machine, Cinnamon crashes to the point that I am not able to touch or start anything including terminal. After checking the ".Xsession-errors" file I found the following error:
(cinnamon-settings-daemon:2619): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_variant_get_boolean: assertion 'g_variant_is_of_type (value, G_VARIANT_TYPE_BOOLEAN)' failed
That happen only when I run any VM machine. I think but I am not sure the issue is related to VMware tools.

UPDATE
It looks like that the problem caused by VMware Tools. Also, updating to VMware Workstation Pro 12.5.1 doesn't solve the issue
