VMware Workstation / Files larger than 2 GB Error in SUBST dir

Hi,

I got the following error using VMware workstation with a VM in a SUBST drive :

"

VMware Workstation cannot open one of the virtual disks needed by this VM because it is larger than the maximum file size supported by the host file system. Some remote file systems do not support files larger than 2 GB, even though the file system on the server might. The file is too large

Cannot open the disk 'D:\VM\XXXX.vmdk' or one of the snapshot disks it depends on.

Module DiskEarly power on failed.

Failed to start the virtual machine.

"D" drive is "C:\DATA" mounted with subst where "C" drive is a NTFS one (which support files larger than 2 GB)

So, the workaround is to load the VM through the "original" path "C:\DATA\VM\"

@VMware : could you please fix this bug ? At least indicate you detected that VM is in a SUBST drive and that is not supported by Workstation ?

(This is not a new bug, but users still losing time with it searching why they are getting this error on a NTFS drive : Re: "destination file system does not support large files" on NTFS RAM disk)

Thanks.

Kind regards,
