VMware Workstation 6.5.2 Linux 32bits - Problem with installation

Hi

It seems that the installation script for 6.5.2 version of VMware under linux has some seriour problems.

I searched the community and found some other members talking about the problem but no one could give a clear answer.

Problem description : VMware workstation 6.5.2 can not be installed on Linux with recent kernels ( 2.6.30 , 2.6.29 ) and so , it even deletes all of the installed files when it sees it can not compile modules. Finally it generates an "Installation unsuccessful" message

I know there are some patches available for 2.6.29 and 2.6.30 kernels

The funny part of story is that, VMware rolls back installation and deletes all of the files when it sees it can not compile the modules itself. So, when one runs the patches it will generate an error message that it can not find /usr/lib/vmware folder. The error message is correct because , vmware installation script does not allow files to remain there and deletes all of them.

how can i disable this additional funtionality? I want just vmware isntallation process to copy files there and to allow them remain there. I'll configure the module kernels using the provided patch myself.

how other people here have installed vmware workstation on their linux?

thanks
