VMware Workstation 16 not displaying all Microsoft server options

VMware Workstation 16.1.0 build-17198959

When creating a new virtual machine with any version of Microsoft Server 2019 after July 2020, only Datacenter Core and Standard Core are displayed in the "Version of Windows to install" pull-down menu. I noticed this in VMware Workstation 15.x as well.

I did notice though, that during the setup of Windows Server 2019 Nov 2020 in VMware Workstation, even though it didn't have just "Datacenter" and "Standard" available from the pull-down menu, the Windows Server installation did prompt for the Core version and the "full desktop experience" GUI version. When I picked the GUI version, Windows Server standard installed with the GUI.

Again, curious that it's not availble from the VMware Workstation pull-down menu.

Hi,

I have no idea what pull down menu you are talking about...

Hi, I am having the same issue. It only shows the core options. Did you find out how to correct the problem?
