VMware Workstation 16.2.0 and .scoreboard files. What it is?

After latest update I see a few new files beside useal guest file? It is something new?

vm.scoreboard

vm-1.scoreboard

vm-2.scoreboard

etc.

HOST: Windows 10 Pro 21H1

GUEST: Windows 10 Pro 21H1

Is there a way to disable it?

Yes, VMware is now competing and maintaining its own scoreboard against VirtualBox and others. as you can see currently

vmware 0,  Others: 2

It's some sort of stats file generated by the VMX process. It can be disabled by adding this to the guest VMX file:

vmx.scoreboard.enabled = "FALSE"

You can read about it's use here. Used in VMware vRealize for monitoring virtualization across an enterprise.

https://docs.vmware.com/en/vRealize-Operations/8.4/com.vmware.vcom.core.doc/GUID-3F9EED74-6794-4852-...

I deleted the scoreboard files, made the addition to .vmx as proposed by @DaveP and re-ran the vm. No more scoreboard files.

Do you have a link to a specific documentation page? Looks like that link is just the zip file for all vRealize documentation. Do you have a more specific reference please?

You'll find references to scoreboard in the PDFs:

vrealize-operations-manager-84-config-guide.pdf

vrealize-operations-manager-84-help.pdf

which are included in the .zip referenced above, https://docs.vmware.com/en/vRealize-Operations/8.4/com.vmware.vcom.core.doc/GUID-3F9EED74-6794-4852-....
