VMware Wkstation 16.2.3 upgrade and 16.2.4 fresh linux install with module compilation broken

Hi,
I have a working vmware workstation 16.2.3 that broke when update to 16.2.4 occurred.
OS- CentOS7 3.10.0-1160.66.1.el7.x86_64. Fresh install of 16.2.4 likewise fail during a vmware-modconfig --console --install-all

I have the same problem. Ubuntu 20.04 LTS, Workstation 16.2.3. After a kernel update, I tried to start and got the modules must be compiled message, clicked install, vmmon and vmnet listed, and then message that the module installation failed. I downloaded 16.2.4 hoping that would have a fix for this problem (which is reported on a number of internet support sites with no consistent solution), but after a successful installation, I received the same error. Log files from the 16.2.4 installation are attached.
