VMware Shutdown with base (Not Suspend)

I am running workstation player 12 on a system we are building. The Customer wants the VM that is on to shutdown if the power button on the base machine is pressed not to suspend. Is this possible?

Hi,

Everything is possible, but I don't think it is a supported feature at the moment.

For workstation 12, the auto suspend on -shared- VMs wasn't even supported... for Workstation 14 suspend on shutdown is one of the new features.

You don't seem to be asking about shared VMs though.

More details:

and workaround:

It should be possible to change the script in that workaround so that the VM shuts down instead of suspends.

Eg. instead of "vmrun suspend" you use "vmrun stop".
