My wmplayer crash if i not use my pc 40-60min
No standby or disk freeze is actived on windows 8,1
HOST: Win8.1
TEST ON GUEST: Xubuntu / Archlinux
Is not checked. >_<
You hate me, i know
nah, I'm fine. I'm an IT professional, problems that are difficult to resolve are interesting.
So to recap, no antivirus, no other hypervisors.. you don't have other security software or things that are a bit uncommon and very low level installed on your Windows 8.1 ? Like -- oh I don' t know -- anti malware, maybe uncommon VPN software ... or specific hardware that has special drivers?

Im a developer. I have a clean pc.
- no software on boot (only dropbox/gdrive, all removed with ccleaner)
- no antivirus/malware tool
- windows 8.1 fresh installation (without asus bloatware)
- All driver from asus driver website (g751jy)
- all updates from Intel Driver Update Utility 2.0
- battery safe on performance and i reset all custom setting to "default"
- i have vbox and wmplayer installed (some time i run both)
- i update bios to version 208 (latest) 10 days ago and i reset all custom setting of bios to "default"
- no custom setting on windows 8.1
- i have crucial ssd 512gb and i update firmware to latest version MU2
All hardware have latest firmware, driver and updates.
If problem is a cpu, i set 2 cpu for guest user.
I restore to 1 and test again.
Hi,
Software developer? The ptkdev name is a give away there I guess. Same here btw. although I do other things as well.
Your setup sounds OK to me.
- i have vbox and vmplayer installed (some time i run both)
As long as you don't run both at the same time it should be fine.
VirtualBox does not crash for you?
Another thing you could try is temporarily uninstall VBox to see if that is the factor.
I know VMware has run some tests with machines that also have VBox installed, but I am not sure it is the best tested configuration.

I test this bug of wmplayer with vbox off.
Nope, vbox not crash.
Hi,
Please note that VirtualBox OFF is not the same as not having VirtualBox installed.
VBox installs low level drivers in your windows 8.1 and they are still there and getting loaded even when VBox isn't running.
So they might interfere. Not saying they are, but it would be something I would personally rule out by uninstalling VBox.
