VMware Bridge Protocol and network issue

After updating to v16.2.0 and starting a VM I noticed, after a while, that I'd lost internet connectivity. Connecting to anything on the LAN was fine but my TP-Link router informed me that the internet connection state was 'disconnected' so every device in the house lost internet access. The problem was reported to my ISP who informed me that all was fine.

My PC has two NICs - a main NIC which is used for all non-VM comms which has the VMware Bridge Protocol disabled. A second NIC is used for all VM bridged comms and has the VMware Bridge Protocol enabled. It appeared that the upgrade to v16.2.0 had decided to re-enable the VMware Bridge Protocol on my main NIC so this was promptly disabled. However, the issue persists.

I've uninstalled v16.2.0 and reinstalled v16.1.0 but the router still loses internet access when I start a VM that uses bridged networking. All IP configurations look OK so I'm at a loss as to what may be causing the problem.

What's going on?
