VMware 16 workstation - writable mapping from a Virtual Disk to local Volume not working

Hello everyone,

if i map Virtual Disk to local Volume  read only. This works fine. Only if i try it with full access , a error occurs - Path not found.vm1.PNGVM2.PNGVM3.PNG

Does anyone have a clue as to where the error lies.

The host O/S is Windows 10 64-bit. 21H1 19043.1766 and higher.
Workstation 16 Pro Trial

Thanks in advance

What version of Workstation?  The disk mapping has NOT worked properly with any of the 16.2.x versions.  Stick with version 16.1.2.

From the screenshot, it looks like the VM and its virtual disk files (VMDKs) are stored in OneDrive.

If you value your data inside the VM(s) and value your sanity, it is best to store the VM on a local drive and avoid using OneDrive (or other cloud-based storage that synchronise between local and cloud storage) for storing VM(s).

Thanks for the quick reply.

I have the moved the folder to "C:\", but the error remains.
Read-only is possible, but writable still has the error.

Best regards

Is C: writeable for you ?
Use a directory inside your home or on a second disk. Dont try to write into the root of a partition.
