I had this problem in most versions of 5.5.x -- now AGAIN in 6.0.x this is occuring.
I have tried this with these combinations...
XP as Host +
XP as Guest
Win2003 R2 as Guest
I must extract the ISO and manually install to get it to work. Is this a bug that has never been fixed?
Should I assume this is something NO ONE else is seeing?
I'm experiencing it too, except with the added joy of the manual install also not working. It fails for me with the "Another version of this product is currently installed. Installation of this version cannot continue" message.
Remove old VMware tools, it works... sorta. The SVGA driver install still fails. It really is a pain to have to do this manually.
