VMs on Workstation 16 Pro freeze when switching between screens

When I switch between VMs or another application (such as Chrome or Outlook), the vm screen will freeze and in order for the screen to come back, I have to change the screen mode (put it in full screen or take it out of full screen) and then put it back into full screen mode.  I have no idea why it's doing this.

The laptop workstation is installed on is connected to a dock that has two monitors on it and the dock is connected to the laptop via usb-c...no idea if that means anything.

Was this working properly in the past or, is this a new setup that is not working as you expect?

Are the Guest Tools installed in the guest OS's?

What are the technical details of your setup such as hardware platform, CPU, RAM Host OS and Guest OS?
