I am running VMWare 6.5 on PCLinuxOS 2007 2.6.26.6.tex2. When I upgrade the kernel to 2.6.26.8.tex1, VMware no longer works. Do I need to reinstall it? or is there an easier way?
Thanks

run vmware-config.pl, follow the prompts, it may not be in your search path but should be. This will reconfigure it for the new kernel. After the first time you re-run it you can use the -default flag, which will answer most of the prompts automatically and save you typing "y" enter a lot.
With previous versions of VMware I would have agreed with you. But was unable to find such scripts with 6.5.
So I bit the bullet and reinstalled VMware 6.5 and the installer program, uninstalled the previous installation and reinstalled all the components.

Just start vmware-6.5 after a kernel update. The start script will miss the matching kernel modules and will try to compile them. No need for a full reinstall or for running a script manually.
