VMWare tools consistently shows as not installed (win7 on Mint 13)

Host: Linux Mint 13

Guest: Windows 7

VM: Vmware workstation 9

I have VMWare tools installed and graphics, shared folders and thinprint are working.

Nonetheless at the startup of Windows7 in Workstation there is hint pop-up mentioning "Install the VMware Tools package inside this virtual machine.".

I uninstalled VMWare Tools and re-installed.

No Change.

Anyone having the same problem and how to resolve?

Having the exact same problem with Win7 guest and Mint 16 host.  Checking the VM menu gives me the option to cancel Tools Upgrade, but all functionality is working.

Welcome to the communities.

After installing the package did you run below command to activate the tool.

/usr/bin/vmware-user

Same thing with WIn7 guest in Mint17. Seems to only have started happening after I made a disk size change and had to reactivate my Win license in the host.
