VMWare probe on port 80?

I am running VMWare 6.5.1 workstation build-126130 on a Linux Host OS with a Windows XP guest OS. Whenever I start up my VMWare guest, the vmware process in Linux sends a probe on port 80 to the guest. I cannot find any documentation on why this is happening and how I can turn it off. Has anyone else seen this?

It's probably related to the Appliance View feature. Do you have it enabled for the VM (VM > Settings > Options > Appliance View)? If not, it sounds like a bug.

Nope - Appliance View is disabled. Guess I need to submit a support request...unless anyone else has any ideas.

Are you sure that the probe is to the guest OS, and not the VMware Application checking for updates?

Yep. Here is some output from tcpdump:

09:22:39.793254 IP 172.16.149.1.39690 > 172.16.149.129.80: S 3601946916:3601946916(0) win 5840 <mss 1460,sackOK,timestamp 5089564 0,nop,wscale 6>

172.16.149.1 is my host, 172.16.149.129 is my guest.
