VMWare Workstation has stopped working

Hello,

I have upgraded to version 6.0.0.45731 on a machine running Vista Enterprise. When I try to start VM Workstation I receive the error shown below.

Hmm, thats a vista thing then. the UAC thing is whats blocking it, have you run that vm happily under vista before? any chance you moved its location?

Check the vmware.log file there maybe more useful info at the bottom of that file

Also, does it work if you run as administrator?

Hello Liz,

If I run it as administrator it starts up so I am suspecting some form of permissions problem. I am just a bit confused because the account that I am using to try and run VM Workstation has administrator rights as well.

The only vmware.log files that I can find relate to specific VMs and have not been updated since the VMs were last powered on.

I am starting to really dislike Vista.

You are right. It was a UAC related issue. I have set VM Workstation to run as an administrator and it now works.

I have now decided that I really do hate Vista.
