VMWare Workstation graphics bugs in Diablo 2

Hey Folks,

I'm running VMware® Workstation 15 Pro 15.5.6 build-16341506.

Intel 9900k

32GB RAM

SSD/NVMes

2080Ti

Playing Diablo 2 over the VM, assigned 60GB Space, 4GB Ram, 3GB graphic RAM and 4 cores of my CPU.

After some time my game is glitching out, textures either black or missing, test is missing , flashing textures etc. I need to restart the game to make it go away until it reappers.

Any Help?

Thanks

Could u upload the vmware.log and stats logs if it's a performance issue? Thanks

1) Enable the stats log in VM setting

pastedImage_0.png

2) add "mksStats.enableTiming = TRUE" in vmx and rerun the test

3) upload the VMware.log and stats folder under the VM folder.

Make sure the VM is shut down and the tab not open in Workstation.

Open the vmx file in a text editor.  Add the line in step 2.  Save and close.

Reopen the VM in Workstation and run it.

I checked the log, it seems DX11 is not enabled in your guest.  Could u upgrade your VM to HW18 and install the latest bundled tools and see if the issue still exists?

Thanks,

Best Regards,

Yan

Are you running Diablo 2 in DirectDraw or D3D mode ?

Whichever mode you're using, you might try switching to the other one by re-running the install / video test or something.  (It's been a while, since I've looked at it.)

Both mechanisms should be playable on modern PCs, although the DirectDraw path uses less of the host 3D acceleration, so if you're running into a host driver issue, the DirectDraw path is probably more stable.

It was running in glide. I will try directdraw later.
