VMWare Workstation cannot join domain.

Hi all,

Having problems on Workstation 5.5.3 and 5.5.4

VMWare machine is a clean install of Windows2003 server std.

I am trying to join the domain and it comes up with an error.. Unable to join the domain due to an RPC error..

If I copy the machine to VMWare Server 1.02 I can join the domain with no problems.

I had read that there were problems with Enabling shared folders on the VMWare computers, however I have disabled this and it still comes up with the error on Windows 2003 server machines. Windows XP machines can join the domain on my VMWare Workstation fine.

Any ideas?

I ran into a similar problem, except that I got the RPC error on vmware server 1.0.3 as well. It turns out that it works fine \*until* you install R2. R2 breaks vmware domain-related networking. I figured this out the third time, of course.. 😕
